Reeves Line

(This post was made before I switched this to a Green Family blog, this line is from my Foster side of the family)
The Reeves line has been challenging for me. I have not been able to get very far back with them. This is my Dads mother's father's line. (see ancestry.com for full line)http://www.ancestry.com/ (Foster Family Tree)
I have been able to find out that they were from Kingston, GA which was the Etowah district when they resided there. My Dad found out from my great aunt Odie, before she passed, that some of the Reeves had been stricken with TB in the "early days" so they did not go see them. There was never a relationship with them after the TB outbreak as my Dad did not know his Great Grandfather, even th0ugh he lived until 1960.
I found two death certificates yesterday that seems to confirm this story. Two Reeves, an uncle and a nephew, died of TB in 1922 and 1924. My Grandmother and her sister (my great aunt odie) were born in 1921 and 1927. I guess they just all stayed away.
On the death certificates the burial place for both is Mizpah Methodist Church, in Rome, GA near the Bartow/Floyd County line. I might have just found where the rest of the Reeves are buried!! Will have to plan another field trip to go and find out.

Another Trip to Ryo

Pictures of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery
My Great Aunt says that it wasn't always called this, she said it was just called "Ryo"
When John R. Green started the church it was a Methodist church, note that it is now a Baptist church. Interesting.

Balous Green

Louisa A Stone Wife of W. J Green

William Jasper Green

Well, we tried it again but to no avail. We did not locate Lou Allen Green's grave. We attempted it believe me, but the land is being leased to a hunting club and we could not get back the approx 3/4 of a mile into the woods and down a logging road, to locate him. So we spent some time at the church taking photos. I will post what I have. Both "lines" are included. Jeremiah Green's line and Balous Green's line. One thing that I did notice as I was reading the inscriptions was that they proudly displayed their religion of choice. For example Jane M Cook (wife of L.A. Green ) reads.....She was a member of the baptist church 34 years. Interesting to me. Beautiful country that our ancestors lived in. Tough living though, you can tell by the lay of the land. Very "hilly" and parts are ridge-like. Pretty land though. I can see the appeal.

Green Cousin Sharon

I have yet to mention my cousin Sharon Marshall from Texas. She is connected through Martha Green who is one of Lou Allen Green's daughters. She is an avid Green researcher and we have been communicating for about a year now about Green Family history. She is probably the most enthusiastic researcher that I exchange information with and I Love that!
Sharon has connected with yet another Green Cousin named Robin Greene Wilson. She is connected through Balis E Green, who is connected to Samual Balos Green who is connected to Samual Lee Green, who is connected to George Balos Greene whew! Anyway, it is great to have another connection and thanks to Sharon's detective work we have found "new information".
Robin has a copy of a page out of a Bartow County history book that cites Balous Green as Lou Allen Green's father. Interesting to see that. Of course we know that Jeremiah was Lou Allen's father, mainly because of Jeremiah naming Lou Allen in his will. These Green's were so intertwined it is hard to sort them out. I know Lou Allen's line is connected to the Balous Green line but I am not sure how. We still have yet to figure that out.

Cousin Kris O'Hayre

I have connected with yet another cousin! Kris O'Hayre is connected through Veda Green who married a Roper. I am very excited about this connection. I do not have much info on the Ropers! I will have to let my Great Aunt Sue know about this - she might remember some of the Ropers. Every new connection is very exciting to me! We are all connected to each other somehow-we just have to figure out how!!!
